1-1 on 9-9
The countdown for Mom's transplant has begun as each day she and Grandy make their way to Medical City for shots, check-ups and such. Her counts have almost bottomed out for this round of chemo. When they begin to rebound just a little, enough of Mom's stem cells will be harvested for three transplants. That process will take ~8 hours and we think it might happen mid-week.
Not too long after, the Transplant Lite will be scheduled and Mom will return to Hotel Medical City for about two weeks. We try to think of it as a long spa excursion where the end result will be nothing less than complete remission!
In the meantime, Mom is doing well yet is often sleepy and takes long naps from time to time. With her new really, really, really short spikey hair-do, at least her hair doesn't get messed up after falling asleep. We like to tease Dad about how Mom's head is much better shaped than his was. :-)
Speaking of Dad ... with Texas losing and Arkansas winning, Dad is 1-1 tonight. We hoped for a better result to help celebrate his 9-9 birthday, but I guess it could have been worse. And we did get him a coconut cream pie ...
Thank you for your kind and gracious wishes for Mom and our family.
Cheers
Mica

Hi Wilhites:
Glad you have the gameplan all set and ready to go, barring as few bumps in the road as possible (and with Paula's attitude, maybe a tired one but surely there all the same, I hope it's all a go!)
I'm a football mourner too this weekend...TAMU won, which makes the boyfriend happy and makes me happy too (to ULL, don't be scared 'Horns!!). But the Cowboys lost. Oh well, only Game 1.
Can't wait for the Yellow Dog cells to start kicking myeloma rear like good Yellow Dogs tend to do :) There's another visualization exercise for you, Paula! You guys continue to be in my prayers (and those of Trinity Episcopal all the way here in Longview). Good luck!!!
Love, Carrie

I heard a sermon about God created the world in 6 days and rested the seventh. So we are not better than God so we need to rest some as well. We get to thinking we can put one more thing in our lives. So enjoy the long naps, soon you will be adding too much in your life again. May the Lord touch you and renew your body, spirit, soul, and mind.
Rest for me,
Natile Woodrow

Paula,
Just a few more days! I know you're scheduled for Tuesday, and believe me when I tell you that we will all be training our thoughts and prayers in your direction for what you've been working and we've all been praying for - remission. May God be with you, your family, and the team of medical staff that will be taking you through the process. We love you, we miss you, and we look forward to the day when we can hold your hand and see your smiling face back on campus.
Hugs,
Betsy
