Match Game

The kit has finally arrived! After two weeks of working through the administrative aspects of Mom's upcoming transplant, we have made a little progress. :-)

The kit is what Aunt Jean will take to the doctor's office in order to collect and FedEx her samples back to the Baylor lab. They tell us it will take approximately two days to determine if she is a match.

However, the more important question is - a match to what? During one of Mom's phone conversations this week, a lady happened to ask if we had the results of the same test for Mom. We don't know that we do. Whatever bone marrow type Jean is will be nice to know, but what we really need to know if it matches Mom!

We will share more when we know more. In the meantime, wish us luck while playing this match game. We are fortunate to have the best health care system in the world available to us, but unfortuantely there are some kinks in the system and numerous hoops to jump through. :-)

Mom is doing well these days - enjoying a break between treatments and a smaller pile of pills to take each day. She has also recovered nicely from last month's lawning mowing incident thanks to two rounds of antibiotics and a rigorous neighborhood watch program. :-)

Thank you to everyone for your kind offers to help Mom and Dad in any way needed. We could not ask for more considerate and generous friends.

Happy Derby Day
Mica

Well, another year older for some of us,heh Mica? I hope you had a wonderful birthday. Of course, Josh has also had his birthday, too. Paula, can you believe our children are this old? Shouldn't it be us? What has happened?

Here's to playing the match game and winning big. Don't forget, if Jean doesn't happen to be that match, I'll be more than happy to get in line with a kit. You would have to come to terms with that "dissection" thing! :)

Paula, you look great, girl! You know how much we're rooting for you even though I fail to tell you on a daily basis.

    Keep the faith.

Thank you Mary - Yes, my excuses for not yet being an adult are becoming harder and harder to rationalize. LOL

    Paula:

I just wanted to tell you how beautiful you looked tonight, you looked radiant!! I hope things are going well on the donor match game, and I hope you're getting good news.

Mica: Why stop the excuses for not being an adult? Let's just keep up the "excuses" for not growing up as long as we can!! Happy Birthday!

    Paula,
You spoke today of how much energy I have and how I was going to be antsy to get out of bed and get moving too quickly next week or the week after. I'm laughing because I think, even PRE-surgery, I don't come anywhere close to having the energy you seem to have these days. I just hope you slow down long enough to accomplish a transplant! Seriously, you amaze me as always. I have cherished our recent talks because each time I hear your voice you sound so strong. Keep up the good work. Praying for a match with Jean, but like Mary will gladly line up if needed. Hugs!
    Betsy
