3 on 1
We've taken a short sabbatical from Paula's Progress for two reasons. First, it has taken some time to recover from both Arkansas' and Texas' boot from the Big Dance. And second, no news is often good news. So is the case with Mom.
Today, we had our "Sweet Sixteen" appointment with Dr. Bhushan and ended up talking with him for more than hour - three on one. We asked lots of questions (the three of us) and he (one of him) gave lots of answers. He played us like Bill Russell of the Celtics - not only denying us to score but he also stole the ball. (Source: Dad)
We learned more detail about Mom's transplant options and the upcoming transition to the Baylor system. We also had a chance to tell him our reasons for following him to his new practice. It is always good to spend that much time with your health care provider, and as often happens, we felt calmer afterwards having so many questions that had built up over the past month now answered.
Mom said she hadn't felt this calm since Sunday after listening to Ron Clinton play Rachmaninoff's beautiful 18th Variation (which we were so glad he remembered to play!). :-) And now, she is looking forward to Palm Sunday and Easter because they are her favorite Sundays of the year.
Tonight, we have returned to Maggiano's for more meatballs - Mom's first choice comfort food - and a little chocolate cake thrown in for good measure.
Thank you for your prayers and constant encouragement to Mom. Dr. Bhushan is observing their positive results.
Cheers
Mica
Don't be alarmed, he said. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here.

I can remember many Sundays that were spent enjoying Bill and Wilt going after each other. I was always happy if Boston and Bill landed on the top of the score. I Guess I was about one year old since it has been a few years. :)
Jesus left us with a Comforter, the Holy Spirit, and he gives us inner peace in spite of the war around us. It is great you had so much one on three time. As in the poem, Footprints, let the Lord carry you thru these dark hours. My prayers are with you. Keep the faith, God knows his children and will answer their prayers.
Your sister in the Lord,
Natile

Sweet Paula-
I am so pleased to read this blog, knowing that progress is being made and that your doctor is so competent.
As we were walking together in the plaza at NTCC the other day, I could barely keep up with you. You have the "spring" back in your step, and oh what joy that gave me. I can not only "feel" God working in you, but I can truly see Him working. I love your new found energy, and I know that God is with you and Dr. Bhushan, as are my continued love and prayers.
Love, Leah
P.S. Try to have mercy on me next time we walk together side by side...let me catch my breath!

Paul, please let Mica know how very much we appreciate getting her updates on your PROGRESS. We
continue to pray for your recovery and continue to trust God because we know He loves you so much.
Hope you and John will be able to come to the Easter Drama-Musical on one of the nights. It will be performed on Sunday night, April 9th and Monday night it will be repeated. Both performances are at 7:00 pm. Of course, Nan Verner has a beautiful solo but there are some other wonderful solos. We still consider you and John as a part of our Church family at First Baptist. Tell John I miss seeing him there. I know you are playing for the Presbyterian Church and I know they love you for what you do for them.
I hear you are still walking in the neighborhood. Stay on Linda Hardin and Jan Abbott and make them keep walking since I am not there to stay after them.
Love you.

Dear Paula, since you and I cannot email, I wanted to post this and let you know how much our street visit meant to me. It was good to catch up and to share stories (and brags) of our children.
I'm glad that you three had a good, long meeting with your doctor and that he was able to answer some of your questions and that you feel calmer, although you appeared quite calm the day we talked.
I'm looking forward to the beautiful music Palm Sunday and Easter.
I continue the prayers.
Love, Mary Gail

Paula, John, Mica, and Erin,
J. Barton told me about this site as well as some family news about the Wilhites, dear and beloved friends of mine whom I almost never see anymore, but whom I love and admire just as much as ever.
Each March since my retirement I have spent the last two weeks of the month judging UIL district meets all around East Texas. At one of these events, I saw J. who told me about your blogs.
I pray for the whole family at my end of the day prayer.
Your blog tells a beautful story of a strong and loving family; reading it gives me great joy and inspiration. Of course, this has always been the story of the Wilhite family; nothing new here, but being reminded of its power and beauty as I read these entries is a wonderful thing.
I love you all,
Minnie

I understand completely what Leah was talking about. Shining eyes, bright smile, bouncy spirit....they're all there for the eyes to see and rejoice in. You are and always have been my hero. Hugs to Mica for bringing us up-to-date on all things Paula.
Love,
Betsy

Dear Sweet Paula & family,
So glad to see you moving much faster around campus. The ole' spring seems to be back in your step.
Sounds like you had a great 3 on 1 session with Dr. Bhushan. How comforting to have a doctor that will sit and talk.
You are looking good, however, you remain in my daily prayers. Thank you Mica for all your wonderful updates. How wonderful to have such a close loving family.
Love in Christ,
Linda B :)

Hi Wilhites!
Well, now that March madness is over we can concentrate on the game that really matters---baseball! Unfortunately, I think the Rangers have forgotten to concentrate. We had great seats Saturday night as we watched them get "spanked" by Detroit, 7-0. Katie was thrilled to be sitting in front of the Ranger on deck circle, however. She was disappointed though that Ivan Rodriquez did not catch for the Tigers that night. Oh, to be 18 again, huh?
Once again, know that you all never cease to be in our prayers and in the prayers of all of us at St. Andrew UMC. This is a special time of year that brings hope and renewal to us all. We love you. God bless!
