Winter Wellness Day
Today was a Winter Wellness Day for the Wilhites.
For me, it is the name given to the one day off I have per month because my company is based in Boston. Apparently winter is so bad up there, they decided to give employees these days off between October and April to experience "Winter Wellness" at home.
Lucky me, I thought. I get to take the days ... but live in Warm Winter Texas. Except today was 40 degrees colder than yesterday. :-)
For Mom, her winter wellness included a day full of pricey meds - an injection, an infustion, and an inhalation.
The injection helps Mom continue to build her hemoglobin count (which is continuing to increase - yes!).
The infusion strenghthens her bones and protects her against excess pain.
And the inhalation treatment helps her ward off pneumonia. I sat in the room as she inhaled (unlike Bill) repeatedly for 10-12 minutes under a clear plastic tent-like thing. During the treatment, the technician in the room wanted to know what Mom was being treated for. When I told him myeloma, he shared that his mom was battling mylemona as well in Mississippi.
At 9:00 PM tonight, Mom was wide awake and feeling well. We had spaghetti and meatballs at Maggiano's - a choice inspired by a trip to Boston a few falls ago. It was a cold, rainy day and we were starving for something warm and familiar. So, instead of going to yet another local seafood or Italian restaurant, we opted for the comfortable and recognizable Maggiano's. It hit the spot then ... and tonight.
Wishing you much Winter Wellness

Hi, Sweet Paula.
It was so good to see you today. You looked so pretty, as always. You always have such beautiful ideas, and you share them in such an eloquent way. I know that your treatments are hard on you, but I sure can't tell it by your pleasant attitude and thought-provoking ideas. As always, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love, Leah
