OxyContin

OxyContin is a new word in the Wilhites' daily vocabulary. Okay, well not for Erin ... but it is for the rest of us.

So while scanning the opinion columns in the Times today, the following headline caused me to do a double-click: Sex, Lies and OxyContin. :-)

If you scan John Tierney's column, you'll see it is about a lady who allegedly traded sexual favors with a doctor in order to receive prescriptions for OxyContin and Xanax.

I was talking to Mom about this earlier today and the story seemed amusing to her. OxyContin as a pain killer is great. But it is causing her to experience some unpleasant side effects such as nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, etc.. She doesn't know why anyone would want to take this drug unless they wanted to sleep and never eat for the rest of their lives!

Maybe Mom isn't taking the pills correctly? Is she missing out on some rainbow-colored euphoria like people in the 60s seem to always have? If you have any insight for us, please feel free to share.

In the meantime, I guess we won't worry too much about Mom. As you know, her interests these days seem to be focused on curly fries, crab legs, and guacamole.

But if you ever see DEA agents staked out on Alan Drive, at least you'll know who they are likely after. :-)

Mom is doing okay this week - catching up on some rest after attending a wedding in Austin over the weekend. I saw the pictures - she and Erin looked fabulous. Dad and Kale weren't bad either.

Cheers

Mica

    Paula,
Do you mean if I take OxyContin I can lose weight while I sleep??? Wow, for those of us who are activity-averse, it sounds like a dream! From the sound of the side effects, I'm certainly glad you've been satisfying your food cravings. Keep that beautiful smile on your face -
    Love you,
    Betsy

    Paula,

How ironic that you are now taking
Rush Limbaugh's potion of choice :)
My dad was on Oxy and it didn't agree with him, but it sounds like you are dealing with it pretty well. But if I hear you spouting some kind of Limbaugh-esque jargon, I'll worry then!!
    Love always, (and hello Mica!!)
    Carrie
